Is this real money?

No. Agora uses a points system. Points have no monetary value outside the platform and cannot be redeemed for cash during an active election cycle. Purchasing points is buying a digital good for use on this platform — not a financial investment or legal wager. Points purchases are final and non-refundable except as required by applicable law.

Can I cash out my points?

After all election results are fully settled by the Howard University Election Commission and all markets are closed, users with point balances above their original purchase amount may redeem the difference. Cash-out details will be announced when the election cycle closes. Points from unsettled markets cannot be withdrawn.

How do I get points?

Click Get Points in the sidebar. Select a package and complete checkout through our Stripe-secured payment page. Points are credited to your account within seconds. Packages range from 500 points ($5.00) to 7,500 points ($50.00), with bonus points on larger packages.

What happens if a candidate withdraws or is disqualified?

If the Election Commission formally removes a candidate, that contract settles at 0. Remaining contracts in that race are rebalanced. Escrow held on orders for the disqualified candidate is released back to users' balances immediately.

What happens if a race is cancelled or has no winner?

If the Election Commission voids a race entirely, all contracts settle at their last traded price and all escrow is released. We follow the Election Commission's ruling in all cases. We do not make independent determinations about race outcomes.

Is my account secure?

Yes. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. All financial operations are processed server-side only — your balance cannot be modified from the client. All connections are encrypted over HTTPS. We do not store payment card data; all payment processing is handled by Stripe.
